Stone Bridge High School DECA program - The DECA Powder Puff game was scheduled for October 14, 2009 to coincide with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Because staying loyal to the local community is important to Stone Bridge DECA, they chose to select a local breast cancer support organization, Loudoun Breast Health Network, to donate the proceeds of the event. In conjunction with the DECA Powder Puff football game the chapter incorporated a “Pretty in Pink” day into the school’s Homecoming spirit week. On the day of the event the entire school wore pink to show their support for Stone Bridge DECA and their fight against breast cancer. “Fight like a Girl, Beat Breast Cancer” t-shirts and bracelets were printed, pink ribbons and Mardi Gras beads were handed out, and pink baked goods were donated and sold as part of the event.

Stone Bridge DECA was able to make a sizeable donation to the Loudoun Breast Health Network with the funds raised through this event. Money from player registration, event ticket sales, promotional t-shirts and bracelet sales, and bake sale proceeds all contributed to the final donation amount. Overall, the chapter earned $5,265.11 to be donated to the Loudoun Health Breast Network, surpassing our goal of $5,000.00.
The “Fight like a Girl, Beat Breast Cancer” DECA Powder Puff game proved to be the most successful Learn and Earn project in the history of Stone Bridge DECA. |
